Who can have an account?

You are eligible for an account if you meet both of these criteria:

  1. Your disability impacts you enough that it meets the disability criteria for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI); AND

  2. This disability developed before your 26th birthday.

If you do not currently receive SSI or SSDI, you might still qualify for an account. Ask a licensed physician or psychiatrist to sign a Diagnosis Form stating you meet the SSI/SSDI definition of “disability.”

If you’re over 18 years old, you can open your own account, if not – an Authorized Legal Representative (ALR) can do it.

Only Oregon residents can have an Oregon ABLE Savings Plan account. If you live outside of Oregon, consider our identical national plan ABLE for All Savings Plan.
